Travelling
Tickets
In our experience, it is easier to buy your tickets in the UK, but there are quite often offers on when you arrive in Orlando. While we get no kick-backs or endorsements from any UK-based ticket sellers, there is a short list at the bottom of this section.
A trip to your local travel agents, or a quick "google" will get you some alternative ideas.
If you are going to buy in Orlando, then be careful to buy from reputable ticket dealers. Some dealers sell part-used tickets while others are time-share sellers who insist that you spend the morning at their resort first. However, with a favourable exchange rate, the choice is yours.

Flights
It is a long flight, so travel prepared, especially if you have children. DS & PSP consoles are ideal, as are IPODs, colouring books, a favourite toy or anything else to keep them amused. Flying out isn't too bad as the time difference is in your favour - the flight back isn't so helpful, although it usually is overnight.
We have flown with a variety of companies and from a variety of airports. Our current favourites for both categories are Globespan from Glasgow. However, don't take our word for it, follow some of the links below to do a bit of research. One more hint, if you can, it's worth getting bigger seats as it is a long flight.

Airport Parking
Sometimes, you might want to go from a different airport in the UK to get the best deal. Airport parking is great for this, moreso if you stay at a hotel the night before. We did this on our last 2 trips and it is quite a nice start to the holiday. There is a very short list below, but once again, a quick "google" should put you on the right track.
If you don't need to, we could organise an airport transfer if you contact us first (Merseyside and surrounding areas only).

Car Hire
If you're flying into Sanford airport, let us know and we may be able to get you a good deal on car hire. Not only that, your car should be ready for you to pick up without having to queue! Contact us for more information
You do need a car to get the best out of Orlando. However, a lot of local cab companies offer deals where they transport you around for the duration of your stay - contact us for more information.
There are numerous companies offering car hire, but the main 2 are Dollar and Alamo. If you land in Sanford, Dollar is the best bet as they are located just outside the terminal building.
Insurance and extras are best booked in the UK. Staff in the airport are really good at trying to sell you an upgrade - "Geez, I can't believe your company allocated you this size of car for your party size. Tut, tut..." However, try to be practical in terms of party size + luggage. We had a great time in a Chrysler 300C a while back, but to and from the airport was a squeeze, whereas the Chrysler Pacifica we had in 2006 and 2007 was our personal favourite.
As regards insurance, pre-booking usually means that all of this is included. Look for the small print about tanks of Gas, extra drivers etc. Child seats are almost never included. We take our own in our luggage - just use a big holdall. It can save a serious amount of money to take your own.
